Wax Resist
Wax resist is a wax emulsion especially created to repel underglazes and glazes applied over it. The wax burns off during firing, revealing designs or base colors. Be mindful of those stray droplets of colour, if they reamin on top of the wax they may effect the design.

1. Trace design
Wax Resist is a wax emulsion created to repeal underglazes and glazes applied over it. The wax is burned off during firing, revealing the designs or base colors. Wax Resist also helps prevent chipping or peeling of color when creating sgraffitoed designs through opaque underglazes.
Trace your design on the surface of your piece.
2. Apply Wax Resist
Shake jar and stir well. Dampen your brush with AS 952 Brush Cleaner and squeeze out excess. This conditions your brush.
Apply 1 good coat of Wax Resist to the design area or section you want to protect. You can use Wax Resist on greenware, bisque, underglaze or glaze. Clean brush immediately after use.
Allow Wax Resist to dry completely.
3. Apply color
Apply the underglaze color over the Wax Resist. A sponge may be used for this step.
Gently remove excess color from resist area with a dampened sponge before bisque firing. The Wax Resist will burn off during the kiln firing to reveal the protected area.
