INSTRUCTIONS

All Surfaces must be dry, free from dirt, wax and grease

Porous surfaces such as unfinished wood, plastic and the like must be sealed with a sealing coat prior to application of leaf

After the sealer has dried the surface should be sanded lightly with a fine sand paper before proceeding with Step 1 in the directions for metal leafing. Glass, metal, plastic finished or painted surfaces do not require the preliminary sealing coat.

A soft Bristle brush is recommended for dabbing the leaf onto the adhesive.

1. APPLY ADHESIVE

After the sealer coat - if required - has dried, apply a thin but uniform coat of metal leaf adhesive (size)  to the area you wish to leaf. Be sure that the area is covered thoroughly but do not flood. Follow directions on adhesive container for drying time.

2. APPLY METAL LEAF

First thoroughly wash and dry your hands before handling the metal leaf. Then place the leaf, one sheet at at time on the area that has been coated in the adhesive. As you place each sheet use a fine soft bristled brush and pointing the bristles at the surface, gently dab the metal leaf into the adhesive. Continue until the desired coverage is achieved.

3. APPLY SEALER

Brush away the excess leaf and apply a uniform coat of metal leaf sealer. This may be the final finish or you may or you may want to apply an antique finish over the sealed leaf
