Glaze combinations can transform simple pieces into vibrant, expressive art. These soft florals, fresh greens, and airy blue glaze pairings bring a sense of renewal and creativity to your work.
Amaco created these "spring inspired" glaze combinations layering and experimenting by applying multiple glazes, to create depth, movement, and unexpected colour interactions during firing. For these cups they used white stoneware to allow colours to stay bright and true.

Warm pink tones create a delicate, heirloom-like finish. Amaco applied 2 coats of PC-55 Chun Plum over 2 coats of PCF-54 Flux Blossom and fired it to cone 6.

Inspired by new leaves and budding plants, this glaze creates a bright, rejuvenating green. The layered glazes interact to produce a soft yet vivid finish that celebrate nature. Amaco applied 2 coats of PC-46 Lustrous Jade over 2 coats of C-42 Saguaro and fired it to cone 6.

This combination captures the soothing tones of lavender fields. Honey flux glaze layered over Celadon soft purple creates a dreamy, slightly translucent effect. Keep firing temperature to cone 5 if you want to achieve a purple tone, if fired above cone 6 it can turn blue. Amaco applied 2 coats of PC-17 Honey Flux over 3 coats of C-56 Lavender and fired it to cone 5.

As Amaco glaze lines are mixable, this cup was a mix of clear glaze with a marigold tone on the outer, and full marigold on the inside. The combination produces a light, lemony yellow outer and rich lemon inner. Amaco created this lemony-yellow by mixing equal parts C-11 Mixing Clear and C-60 Marigold. It’s perfect for pairing with underglazes, like V-361 Jet Black, used to paint the flowers. Fired to cone 5.

Coral pink offers warm alternative to pink or orange. This was created by mixing a white base with a small amount of red in the satin mattes range. Amaco mixed 4 parts SM-11 White with 1 part SM-51 Red. It was fired to cone 5.

This tranquil blue combination inspired by spring skies and wildflowers. Layering a rutile over a Potters Choice Flux creates a soft, flowing finish with subtle variation. Amaco applied 2 coats of PC-20 Blue Rutile over 2 coats of PCF-21 Ocean Drift. Fired it to cone 6.
Many Amaco glazes are designed to be mixable so don’t be afraid to create your own combinations and let your creativity flow!
