Instructions
With stoneware regardless of whether glaze is applied or not, it will vitrify when fired to cone 6. Our Bisque is already fired to a cone 04 ready for glazing at Cone 6. You can enjoy using stoneware glazes to complete your vase, copy the same colours as this lesson plan or create your own colour scheme using the glaze ranges and techniques below.

- Wipe down the vase with a clean Art Sponge
- Using a pencil to draw a light line around the vase approximately 2/3 up from the bottom, leaving 1/3 section at the top vase.
- Use a Soft Fan Brush to paint 2-3 coats of Speckled Buff Engobe on the bottom 2/3 of the vase. TIP: You can also add the Engobes to the very bottom of the vase, and your piece will not stick to your kiln shelf during firing.
- Paint 2-3 coats of Micro Ash on the top 1/3 of the vase and inside the vase.
- Use the Soft Fan Brush to overlap 2-3 coats of Micro Ash over the Speckled Buff Engobe in a scalloped pattern.
- On the top 1/3 of the vase, paint 2-3 coats of Rose Quartz over the Micro Ash. Add some scalloped brushstrokes in between the scallops of the Micro Ash.
- Apply Rose Quartz on the inner rim of the vase and 1 generous coat of Light Flux on the outer rim of the vase.
- Allow your project to dry completely.
- Fire to cone 6.
